Tamandua Surf Lodge at Salsa Brava Beach

Welcome to the Tamandua Surf Lodge. We are located in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica less then 200 meters from Salsa Brava, one of the best and heaviest surf spots in Costa Rica. We offer budget accommodations as well as surfboard and stand-up paddle board rentals and lessons. Currently we have 3 rooms with private bathrooms and a community kitchen.

Puerto Viejo is the most popular surfing destination on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. This small town offers a variety of bars, restaurants, hotels, and shops and is well known for its nightlife. The relaxed vibe is a mix of Caribbean, Costa Rican and International influences.

Salsa Brava is a heavy reef break that offers Hawaiian style juice and barrels. The surfing at Salsa Brava is not for beginners, but there are some good beginner spots in the area. The surf is generally biggest between December and March, but can be good almost any month with the flattest months being September and October.
